Shea Butter and Coconut Oil from Akwaaba Social Enterprise Ltd

Our unrefined Shea Butter is made in the north of Ghana, West Africa by local people, who gather the nuts which grow wild on the Karite tree, they put them through a number of processes ending with unrefined Shea Butter. (By comparison refined shea butter is processed using chemicals and all of the good components are removed.)

Unrefined Shea Butter is naturally hard and is easier to apply if kept at room temperature between 20-24c

Unrefined Shea butter has many qualities and benefits. It is a great moisturiser for the skin and can be used on babies right through to the toughest of working hands where it will soften skin and help prevent cracking and roughness. On hair it is a great conditioner. Here is list of some of the benefits of using unrefined shea butter.

Akwaaba is a new company and has been set up to support education projects in developing countries. Already in its infancy, it supports a school in Ghana, West Africa and is currently looking to build another in this country.

In order to undertake this task, we look to obtain products that come from these countries, market them here in the UK and use the net profit to build schools and help other projects that are in the process of being developed.

The education projects  supported are usually in the rural regions where schools are far apart. See the link to a video on the “About Us” page of this site.

You will see that these children are quite young, and plans are already in place to build a junior secondary school, so as to continue on their education.

These children are now in a local school, and the door to a better, fulfilled life through education is now open to them.

Akwaaba and www.seewaytrust.org are grateful for any support you can give.
